Richard is a natural teacher, a fountain of knowledge on his particular subject and the relaxed and calm attitude that makes him welcoming and approachable. Whether you've never picked up a guitar before or are returning to it, Richard can adjust he teaching style to work with the situation. This ability to change his working style is evident in the different ages he teaches from 10 to 60 plus. I would recommend Richard to anyone wanting to learn to play the guitar. All lessons are planned before he arrives so half the time isn't spent writing music down, he comes, we sit down and set about playing. Richard also understands each individuals strengths and potential weak points, he knows on certain parts of a song he can breeze over and other areas he can really work through.
On a personal level I find Richard reliable and trustworthy.

Through Richards style of teaching, he has given my children, both the ability to enjoy and appreciate not only different types of music but the confidence to perform in front of an audience.
He has a quiet authority, a friendly manner and is able to communicate his expectations, in relation to a lesson or a particular piece of music. They always feel challenged but only within the bounds of their own abilities and through gentle encouragement from Richard. He encourages practice, little but often, to avoid it becoming a ‘chore’ . He is never negative or impatient and I feel this is one of Richards greatest strengths. He is always punctual, reliable and to the best of my knowledge honest.
As Chairperson of my local After School Club, I have suggested to Richard, that he should contact the Co coordinator, to arrange some kind of group musical hour. I know that the children, who range from age 5 to 12, would thoroughly enjoy this activity and I have every confidence in Richards enthusiasm and ability to organise it.
My children regularly check Richards web site for up-dates and look forward each week to their lesson with him. Through him, they have developed a love of guitar playing and an appreciation of different types of music, that I’m sure they will carry into adulthood with them. I think that’s something Richard should be very proud of.
